  • 10/4/08 - Bill Perlman might actually buy the Sat R Day from us if we can resolve a couple of issues.  The first is chain rub where the two runs of chain cross each other, and rub pretty severely.  The idea he and I came up with is a different idler, one that increases the space between the two runs of chain.  The other issue is the elastomers on the rear suspension... he needs something stiffer, as the bike pogos like crazy when climbing.  And finally, he'd like to go to a smaller granny ring on the crankset.  I think it's a 30 tooth, so a 28 would probably be a good bet, if the derailleur can wrap the chain with that.  I wouldn't worry about the chain ring unless and until the other two issues are dealt with.
  • 9.15.08  From Harvey Stackpole:  I'm getting a new recumbent...a Turner.  Milt and I are good friends.  He will be sending it to you and it should arrive around October 1.  I'm keeping the Rocket, at least for now.  If someone is looking for a used Rocket, I could probably be persuaded to part with it.  I'll probably see you sometimethis week, probably Thursday or Friday.  JB
  • 9/14/08 - We should figure out a way to retire entries that have been completed, but still keep a record of the entry for future reference. Before we commit to the wiki, we should see if there is other project management software that keeps track of tasks and events. Other than looking at each entry, I don't know which tasks are still incomplete, which are finished, etc. BW
  • 9.12.08 --- Terra Cycle order  was short 2 15mm aluminum tube extension piece with end cap.  We got 2, but we ordered 4.  I emailed Terra Cycle that information JB
  • 9/9/08 -  I don't know who it is, but we still have someone entering sales on the computer by typing in the customer information in the wrong place, which as I understand makes for really big problems in terms of sales tax and other issues.  We need to instruct EVERYONE on how to properly enter a sale.
  • DONE 9.9.08 --- Ernest Monty --- 301-713-2717 X151 --- purchased 2 Speed D7 in April of 2006 from us.  He went on vacation and had spokes break.  He was told by a bike store that there had been a bad batch of spokes come out of China in that time frame and that was the cause of his problem.  He has also been told that Dahon was replacing wheels as a result of the bad batch of spokes.  I sent an email to Monty at Dahon today. JB  9.10.08 Monty responded to my email and said he only has rear wheels at this time so I asked him to sent me two. 9.11.08 I called Ernest and told him the wheels were ordered and to his questions about the cost of the transaction I told him it would be free. JB 9.19.08 Wheels arrived so I called Ernest and he said he would get back to me.
  • 9-9-08 - A challenge I see is having too many wiki pages. Do we really need separate pages for Ride Worksheets?
  • 9.09.08 - Easy Racer has dedicated a major part of the front page of their website to promoting the replacement of forks.  Please read the information and we need to form a plan for sharing the information with customers.  It looks like they have major concern about fork strength. JB
  • 9/9/08 - I have long wondered if there isn't some way in QuickBooks to "force" the person entering the transaction to choose one of the Payment methods before closing/saving the transaction.  Many database programs (which I think is essentially what QuickBooks is) allow you to make it impossible to close an entry with certain fields blank.  I think it would be good to try to find a way to do that, but I have no clue how.  Bruce... you're our resident geek... (and I mean that in the best way possible).  It might also be good while we're at it to "force" the entry of a salesperson name, and update the list of sales people.  TF 8/31/08 - We seem to have a problem entering the Payment method into QB on daily transactions. I tried to resolve most of them for today but wasn't able to on a couple.
  • 8-30-08 - We got the touch up paint in for Bromptons, one bottle of each color that we have/had bikes in.  I asked James to contact the guy who bought the orange one to let him know we have it, as he asked for some.  For future Brompton orders, we probably want to make sure we get a bottle with each bike.
  • 8.21.08 - As I did the sales taxes last evening I found two simple errors that cost alot.  We provide a 5% discount off each bike when people buy two bikes.  I found that someone had taken 10% off two bikes for a $100+ error.  We subtract rentals paid when someone buys a bike within 60 days of that date.  Instead of a $20 discount on 7/29 on the purchase of a Rans Cruz we gave a 20% which cost $245. JB
  • 8.17.08 - Bell does not have yellow or orange helmets until after Labor Day.  I back ordered 15 of each. JB
  • 8/17/08  J&B order came in with the EZ-3 trike having a bent fork.  I sent it back and then called J&B PA and told Jose what I had done. JB
  • 08/14/08 I think it would be a good idea to come up with some sort of system to make sure our traded in and consignment bikes are actually worked on before we sell them, and in most cases before they are shown.  It's tough, because honestly I tend to rank them lower in priority than the pile of customer's bikes that need work, but we need to make sure we're not sending out a bike that hasn't been fixed.  I typically create a ticket for the bike and put it in a separate spot in the rack.  What needs to happen next is that they get fixed, and then the ticket is marked done and goes somewhere else.  I recommend that we also use that moment to tag the bike with a blue tag with the price, and that we NOT put the blue tag on until the work is done.  Thoughts? I agree. Working on the bike could be a project after we've finished bikes due for the day and a mechanic is looking for work. I also suggest that we add our initials to these comments. BW.
  • 08/14/08 What's the latest on the green Friday tandem?  When I left on Saturday, I had left the ticket in Sunday with a note about what to do, but the ticket appears to be untouched.  Anyone? I should have removed the wheel and sent it back to Friday. I tried adjusting the click box and there was still a problem when we did a test ride. BW
  • Do we add challenges to the top or bottom? It would also be nice to know who edits the document and when they do the editing. Anyway, John's email account is full. This is a continuing challenge. Should we find out how much it costs to add more email storage? I'm getting lots of Rotary related files that are large.  I'll start directing them to another email address.  This wiki will reduce the number of work related emails.
  • Tim opened the package for the replacement crankset for the Curve SL, and discovered that it's actually a Curve D3 crankset, a much cheaper piece.  I've contacted Dahon by email to correct this.  The original crank was badly bent in the spider area.
  • Just heard back from Monte at Dahon. The correct crank for the Curve SL is not currently available.  The crank he sent is a significantly cheaper alternative, and looks it, so I do not think it's an appropriate replacement.  I'm open to suggestions, as nobody really carries these cranksets as singles.  It's a high priced bike.  Buy an appropriate crank set for it.
  • tikit upgrade - Paul and Alex installed the new single-cable upgrade on one of the tikits. During the first install the headset was not adjusted properly and the cable was rubbing on the frame. One or more of the cable strands was cut and is now sticking out and could catch on clothing, etc. Should the cable be replaced? We couldn't find the metal replacement latches that were also part of the upgrade.  (Yes, the cable should be replaced.  This is contrary to "guy " thinking, but we need to read instructions and determine if necessary parts are available before we start in on a project.  Tuesday Paul did not look in the box and ended up calling Bike Friday thinking that the stems had not been sent.  During the phone call I looked in the box and there the stems were.  The latches being missing is a continuation of that problem.)
  • DONE - 8.12.08  Larry Previti called about parts.  After a couple of phone calls I located a small repair ticket on a bench and a reference on the order sheet.  It was not clear what we were doing for Mr. Previti. Mr. Previti picked up his parts. We ordered a new chainring and one-piece crank. He was going to try to figure out how to put it all together and install it on his bike. We may see him again. (Bruce, 8/13/08)
  • DONE .  Bike is repaired and ready for sale.  9.23.08  Harvey Stackpole called and the bolt holding his seat struts broke and can not be removed from the frame.  He has had enough.  He will be in on Thursday to leave the bike to be sold on consignment. JB JTA
